Walt Disney Company is the most famous and the world’s largest animation, entertainment and media group which are now the owner of a number of theme parks, studios, channels and many other entertainment products.

The first store was opened in 1899 in which Kresge had to sell everything for around 5 to 10 cents as a result of which more customers came to shop at lower a price which was the attraction. If we look back in 1980’s we will find the foundation stones of Cisco. Leonard Bosack and Sandy Lerner, two group members from Stanford University who worked there as computer operations staff and were married together as well; after working at Stanford University they joined Richard Troiano. They established Cisco in 1984.

In 1987 Bill Graves was the first CEO of Cisco Systems and in 1988 John Morgridge was the second CEO. Sandy Lerner for a while moved to Schlumberger for direct computer services but later she moved back to Cisco in 1987 for full time. The first product of Cisco Systems was an adopted product from the maker William Yeager who was also an employee of Stanford University but later he moved to Micro Systems.

The product which was adopted was multiple-protocol router software. In February 1990 Cisco Systems appeared on the Stock Exchange. In 1990 Lerner was asked to leave the company and as a protest her husband announced his resignation as well and the idea developers of Cisco Systems walked away with $170 million. In 1995 John Morgridge was replaced by John Chambers.

Back in 1915, a very forward looking young man in the small town on Idaho town (America Falls) bought a tiny grocery store which was owned by his own father. The young man’s name was M. B. Skaggs. Since the start of his business, his long term strategy was to provide his consumers maximum value and to keep profit margin as low as possible with the aim of growing further.

Even here he was able to keep his word and by 1926 he was able to open 428 branches of his stores in 10 different states. The biggest growth took place when Skaggs took over 322 stores of Selig and named the company as Safeway. Two years following the merger Safeway appeared on the New York Stock Exchange.

The growing and amazing strategies of Safeway included detailed nutritional labeling on consumers goods, opening dating on some of the perishable products so that they maintain their freshness and when the consumers consumes it he does not return with a complain and Safeway also introduced produce pricing by the pound.

Safeway reached United Kingdom, Australia, Germany and Saudia Arabia as a result of expansion after 1960’s. Initially the same Safeway logo was used all over as used in US until the company was acquired by Argyll foods in 1987. The first logo was a black and white version with black background and Safeway written in bold and caps. It also showed symbol “S” inside a circle which later became the identity mark of Safeway.

From 1980 to 1987 a colorful Safeway logo was introduced with the same “S” inside rounded square and Safeway written under in black. The logo was simplified as compared to the older version keeping the main focus on “S” in red.

1987-1994

In 1987 a major acquisition took place in which Safeway was purchased by Argyll Foods. Safeway was kept the brand name but a new logo was given to all the supermarkets in UK . In America the same old Safeway logo was used but in UK the new version was entirely changed with two colors that were red and white. The “S” was given a much smooth and italic look, Safeway was written in a simpler font with white on red background.

The font and color remains the same as from 1987, however the addition of a curved line under Safeway made the logo look more beautiful and artistic.

In 2000 a slogan was added to the logo “Lightening the load” in green color. This logo was made more prominent in house on trolleys, promotional literatures, shopping bags and in store fixtures.

2000-2005

Safeway was written in lowercase, italics and in deep red color. This made the Safeway logo more prominent and easy to read and recognize. When the company was bought by Morrisons, a punch line was added to the logo “Part of Morrison’s family” to spot the change for public.

1973

In 1973 Enterprise Products purchased a transportation company named as Cango. Six years later in 1979 Enterprise Products completed its three main construction projects including Mont Belvieu storage and pipeline complex, natural gas liquids fractionators at Petal, Mississippi and Chunchula and Sorrento NGL pipelines.

1980’s

In 1980 another Natural Gas Liquid fractionators was built in West Texas and at Mont Belvieu. This time these fractionators had the capacity of 35,000 barrels per day, following the acquisition of a pipeline and storage company under Dow Chemical named as Wanda Petroleum Company. The further constructions that were completed this year included Lake Charles, Louisiana and Bayport, Texas propylene pipelines.

Another following successful construction in 1981 was the building of two Isomerization units and they had the production capacity of 13000 barrels per day and this event followed the construction of other Natural Gas Liquid fractionators at Mont Belvieu with the capacity of 60000 barrels per day. In 1983 Enterprise Products completed a flourishing project at Houston Ship Channel, this time it was the opening of import and export facility of Natural Gas Liquids.

1990 Success Story

In 1994 Enterprise Products joined hands with Mitchell Energy and Sun Oil Company for the construction of Belvieu Environmental Fuels. In 1996 additions were made to the Natural Gas Liquid fractionators of Mont Bevieu and this time it came up with the capacity to hold 210,000 barrels a day. In 1998 Enterprise Products went public. Then in 1999 which is the acquisition year Enterprise Products acquired Lou-Tex propylene pipeline and Tejas Natural Gas Liquids. In 2001 Enterprise Products acquired ownership of further five Natural Gas pipelines as an expansion. The years followed experienced more expansion, acquisitions and constructions bringing business, money, growth and prosperity for the company.

The roots of one of the oldest chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing company date back in the year 1668 in Darmstadt, when Friedrich Jacob Merck attained the “Angel Pharmacy” the “Engel-Apotheke”. In 1827, Heinrich Emanuel Merck started the production of alkaloids, different extractions from plants and other chemicals on mass industrial scale. Merck KGaA stationed in Darmstadt is the world oldest company manufacturing and selling pharmaceuticals and chemicals, where as Merck & Co. is U.S. based pharmaceutical company in New Jersey working independently after World War I. Introduced recently the Merck logo shows an addition of two words in italics under the parent Merck logo that is “Be Well”.  Be well means the promise of the company to the whole world that they will work out their best in every aspect to safe human and animal life. Be well is the passion and promise of Merck employees that they are serving the people globally from past 150 years and will continue with the same spirits. The medicines, vaccines and other health care products will cope through all the medical breakthroughs.

Merck Mectizan Donation Program

Mectizan Donation Program was established by Merck 25 years ago. Mectizan with the chemical ivermectin is the drug of choice to treat onchocerciasis, commonly called as river blindness. The success of this private public health care program was in collaboration with various world health organizations. To create more awareness and with the promise to eradicate the disease completely from the world the slogan was designed. The program is still running and Merck is donating the medicine to make this campaign as a massive achievement.
